When I received my signed copy of Women of the African Diaspora, I rushed home to read it the same evening. I was intrigued immediately as the book began with a beautiful prayer honoring well known women who embody the rich spiritual heritage of West Africa. Heart connected, I continued reading with sincere awe and inspiration. Ten extraordinary women from the diaspora poured their heart into these stories, expressing their hopes, dreams, pains, life challenges, and lived definitions of inward and outward beauty. So thoughtful! So profoundly moving. The art pieces and brilliant photographs evoke feelings of feminine strength, resilience, glory and heavenly beauty--a gift from God that not everyone is blessed to enjoy. I share pictures and quotes from the book with my seven-year-old daughter to show her radiant reflections of herself. She's equally intrigued. In her words: Wow! She's beautiful.
