Memphis was once a capital of Egypt and houses the great temple of Ptah, god of creation. The city&#8217;s original name in Medu Neter (Egyptian language) was Inbu Hedj (or Aneb-Hetch) meaning white walls. Inbu Hedj was where the first pharaohs of Egypt reigned for over eight dynasties until the capital moved to Thebes.
